Vision Strategy Tactics

It is a dark night and you and your team are struggling to find the right route through the woods. There is uncertainty about the destination and so your team is spread out and searching in confusion. Suddenly, someone hands you a flashlight. Now you can see the destination and the path with clarity. Your team lines up behind you and ... together.... you proceed down the lighted path toward your destination. It will not be easy. It will not be quick...but...you will get there.

Experience

My history includes travel industry/destination marketing, endurance events & television production, brand building, travel platform building, media platforms and a few more things. The biggest challenge was to build the XTERRA World Tour from one small endurance event on Maui into a global tour of 300+ events. Along the way, there were some dark and challenging days. I realized that, as a team, we were scattered and confused. So, we stopped. As a group, we determined and defined our vision. With that vision we constructed the major strategy blocks for XTERRA. The tactics then easily flowed. The path was lit with a bright flashlight and we moved onward to the successful completion of our vision....and ultimately ...the successful sale of the business.

 

 

 

Over these past few years, I have been asked to assist a few companies and help them find their own "flashlight". Businesses such as food & beverage, travel, cause-related charities, land conservation groups and a few others. So, I decided to put some structure to it and aim to work with only a few select companies/groups each year. 


Project

The general intent for a project is:

 

  • Meetings with the client/friend/decision maker to understand the business and challenges.

  • Work with the decision maker to uncover and define the Vision for the venture.

  • Once that is established, the way forward is better defined and we move into the phase of establishing the primary Strategy building blocks toward the vision.

  • Lastly, the Tactical plan is determined. If the first two steps are well thought out and constructed, then this tactical plan almost builds itself. Naturally, it is designed to remain flexible to adjust to market conditions.

 

That's it. Your VST plan is complete and your team has the vision, direction and tools. As with anything...."excellence in execution" is mandatory for success.

 

There is no such thing as a "marketing or strategic planning guru". They just don't exist. The work that we do is to get your team to work together, determine their own vision and help them build/select the tools to achieve success.

 

Our project work is generally:

 

  • Meetings with the client/friend. [easily accommodated on Zoom]

  • Help define the vision / end goal.

  • Work with decision maker and team to build out the appropriate strategic and tactical plan.

 

Timeline - Ideally 14 days to deliver the final product.

Cost:  Zero *

 

  • Note 1:  Generally, travel is not necessary, however, if it is requested then the client reimburses any related travel cost.

 

  • Note 2:  We request the client make a reasonable contribution to a selected charitable cause. We will recommend a few that we work with or the client can select their own.
